In a significant development on the night of 07–08 May 2025, the Ministry of Defence of India confirmed that the country’s Armed Forces successfully thwarted an attempted escalation by Pakistan, which targeted several military locations across Northern and Western India using drones and missiles.

The offensive, carried out by Pakistan, aimed at strategic Indian military assets in regions including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. However, thanks to India’s robust Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence Systems, these threats were effectively neutralized. Recovery of debris from impacted areas has confirmed Pakistani involvement.

🇮🇳 India’s Proportionate Response

Early on 08 May 2025, India launched precision strikes targeting Air Defence Radars and installations in Pakistan, in what the Ministry described as a proportionate and restrained counter-response. It has been reliably confirmed that an air defence system in Lahore was successfully neutralized.

The Indian response maintained the same domain and intensity as the Pakistani attack, reinforcing India’s previously stated commitment to a measured, focused, and non-escalatory approach under Operation SINDOOR.

🔥 Escalation Along the LoC

Simultaneously, Pakistan intensified its unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) using mortars and heavy calibre artillery in areas including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir.

This hostile action led to the tragic loss of 16 innocent Indian lives, including three women and five children. In response, India was again compelled to take defensive action to bring Pakistani artillery fire to a halt.

🕊️ India Reaffirms Its Stand

Despite the ongoing provocations, India has reiterated its firm commitment to non-escalation, urging that the same be respected by the Pakistani military. The Indian Armed Forces remain vigilant and fully prepared to respond to any further aggression.
